"How each member of the family works within the greater team, well that’s completely up to you. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is now available to stream on Netflix."While it is true that most folks seem to think of asymmetrical gameplay as 1 vs Many, in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the family is an important part of the story to tell," reads a post on the game's official website. If you prefer an intricate story, maybe give this one a pass. Overall, I highly recommend this movie, particularly for “blood and guts” horror fans. It pulled a lot from that movie, even to the point of Sally looking incredibly similar to Laurie. Outside of the story and characters, my biggest problem with this film is how bad it wanted to be Halloween 2018. The effects, though! Beyond fantastic! Illusion Industries killed it! *pun intended* WHAT? I am guessing it was supposed to be a dig at “cancel culture,” but to say it fell short would be an understatement. The comment about “canceling” Leatherface. It is when Leatherface enters the bus where the group is partying. One scene annoyed me, possibly more than it should - part of the scene in question appears in the trailer. Regardless, the story is not the point of a TCM movie. I have so many questions about the storylines. The biggest problem is that nothing gets enough attention, and it all becomes pointless. In terms of the story, there are too many things vying for the audience’s attention. Not only does the audience see Leatherface go after the main characters, but he also takes on all of the side/background characters. In the previous movies, multiple people died, but it never felt like the term “massacre” was accurate. This film gave the full-on massacre I waited for with this franchise. HOWEVER, this turned out to be a somewhat positive thing as I found myself rooting for Leatherface as he began taking them out. I did not find any of the characters likable or relatable. Some of the sequels hinted at the idea of him being supernatural. In this film, Leatherface is now a supernatural being on the level of Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees. Rather than eat people, however, he preferred preserving their skin and wearing it like a mask. The character is supposedly loosely based on Ed Gein, a killer and grave robber who made things from human skin. To compound his upbringing, Leatherface seemed to have a developmental disability. The initial depiction of the character was that of an individual raised by a reclusive, cannibalistic family. The character of Leatherface has evolved over the years. The plot is weak, but that is not what I am looking for in the TCM franchise. Leatherface appears pretty quickly, and the director wastes no time before showing his vicious nature. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is every bit the gory bloodbath I wanted it to be. The story is by Alvarez, along with Rodolfo Sayagues. Producers include Fede Álvarez, Herbert Gains, Kim Henkel, Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy. Amid all the drama, Leatherface ( Mark Burnham ), the infamous killer who wears human skin as a mask, is ready to protect his home.Īt the directing helm for this movie is David Blue Garcia. After arriving, they find that someone still resides in the small town. A group of influencers moves into the abandoned town of Harlow. Texas Chainsaw Massacre takes place 50 years after the original Tobe Hooper film. RELATED: Remembering Filmmaker Tobe Hooper In the case of this film, that means the original Texas Chainsaw final girl Sally Hardesty ( Olwen Fouéré), once again faces off against the chainsaw-wielding psycho. Generally speaking, they are a completely new story with new characters however, they always bring in some of the OG fan-favorite characters. A requel is a cross between a remake and a sequel. The last several years have seen the rise of the “requel” in the horror genre. If you are wondering whether to spend a couple of hours watching Leatherface maim a new group of young people, you will find all the information you need here! Because of this, it has been one of the most anticipated horror movies since its announcement in 2021. This film is the first one fans have gotten since Leatherface in 2017, poorly received by the public. Netflix just dropped Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the newest installment in the TCM franchise. *Mild spoilers ahead for Texas Chainsaw Massacre
